Come join NUS Jazz Band as we present our Semester 1 Showcase at Blu Jaz Cafe’s very own Jazz Loft located on Bali Lane, entitled “Twilight Swing”! Set against a backdrop of an intimate jazz space well-known in the jazz scene, this performance allows NJB to jazz it out in a cosier setting while allowing new members to gain experience in a space that full-time musicians use regularly. Audiences can expect a night of jazz music from bands of different instrumentations and sizes, along with food and drinks available in the cafe.

NUS Jazz Band was formed in 1994 by a group of dynamic musicians and jazz enthusiasts, the NUS Jazz Band experiments with a whole range of arrangements and improvisations from traditional big band to contemporary compositions, and various tunes–swing, bebop, fusion, ragtime and soul; by displaying its versatility through the annual concerts, and engagements within and outside of the university.
One of Singapore’s most versatile talents, Chok Kerong has distinguished himself as a keyboardist, composer, songwriter and producer of extraordinary clarity and depth. Kerong’s works span a wide range of genres and have been performed by artists and ensembles like Jeremy Monteiro, Randy Brecker, Joanna Dong, Roberta Gambarini, the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, Singapore National Youth Chinese Orchestra and the Jazz Association (Singapore)Orchestra. He is currently the Principal Tutor of the National University of Singapore Jazz Band, as well as an instructor at LASALLE College of the Arts and School of the Arts (SOTA).
