Join us for an enchanting evening of music! The NUS Guitar Ensemble (GENUS) proudly presents our AY25/26 Semester 1 Concert: Florescence. 

Just as flowers come into full bloom, Florescence reflects both the flourishing spirit of our ensemble and the rich emotional spectrum of our repertoire. From lively, upbeat works such as Selections from Aladdin to sweeping, grand melodies like Vinculum Overture, allow yourself to be immersed in the beauty of Niibori guitar music.

Artists Line Up and Bio

NUS Guitar Ensemble 

Established in 1981 by Cultural Medallion recipient Mr Alex Abisheganaden, NUS Guitar Ensemble (GENUS) is the region’s first Niibori guitar ensemble. Initially comprising only classical prime guitars, GENUS was later modelled after the Niibori Orchestra in Japan, becoming the pioneering guitar ensemble to showcase the distinctive and diverse musical possibilities of the Niibori method, which utilises a family of guitars with varying pitches. 

A pioneer in the Singapore guitar ensemble scene, GENUS aims to set the benchmark of musical excellence for ensembles to establish it as an integral part of the local arts landscape and spread appreciation for the Niibori artform amongst youths in Singapore.

Terms of Ticket Sales

• Once sold, tickets are strictly non-refundable or exchangeable unless the Singapore government mandates the closure of events in Singapore. All information given is correct at the time of publishing, but is subject to change without prior notice. The Promoter reserves all rights to amend any terms and conditions without prior notice, and, in the event of any dispute, the Promoter’s decision is final.

Conditions of Entry

• Admission is subject to valid tickets produced at the entrance.
• Each ticket admits one person.
• As a courtesy to other audience members, infants in arms and prams, and children below six years of age cannot be admitted for ticketed shows.

General

• Attendees must follow all venue rules and safety guidelines, including any health protocols in place on the event day.
• Mobile phones must be switched off or switched to silent mode in the theatre.
• Patrons are required to follow all house rules and regulations set out by the venue. The House Rules are displayed within the venue premises.
• No food and drinks are allowed in the venue.
• The performance is not amplified with microphones. As such, sound levels and clarity may vary.

Duration

• Approximately 1.5 hours with 15 mins intermission

Late Entry Advisory

• Please be seated 15 minutes before the start time
• Latecomers cannot be admitted until an appropriate break in the show.

Photography / Videography Recording Rules

• Flash Photography are strictly not allowed for this event.

Access

• The venue is wheelchair accessible. Parking is available at Stephen Riady Centre and lifts to the venue are available.
